Ondo APC reconciles aggrieved members, vows to sweep LG poll
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter has boasted of emerging victorious in this weekend’s local council elections.
While stressing that the ruling party would not overlook any opposition party, the spokesperson of APC in the state, Alex Kalejaiye, stated that the feat achieved during the recent governorship election would be replicated at the poll.
Revealing that a committee, headed by Charles Fagbounka to oversee and coordinate all campaigns across the 18 council areas of the state had been set up, Kalejaiye added that all aggrieved members had been reconciled.
Addressing a press briefing ahead of the weekend’s poll, the spokesman submitted: “We have given directives to our leaders to be meeting and mobilising our members to visit churches and marketplaces to canvass for votes.
“We are fully prepared for the local government elections. Our campaigns are going on at the wards and local government areas. We are working, and getting set for this exercise.
“We never believe in buying votes. With what we have done and what we are doing, we believe the people will vote for us. We believe in decent campaigns.”
During the governorship election, we campaigned and won in all the local government areas.
“It is the people that should decide who will be their councillors and chairmen. Our preoccupation is to win the election. Thirteen political parties, according to ODIEC, are participating in the election. We are going to win.”
He went on: “People voted for performance. We never believed in buying votes. With what we have done for the people, we know they wouldn’t have any problem voting for the APC.
“We started by sensitising our members. We have committees, and they have been working in various wards and units. The committees have been working. We are not just starting campaigns.
“In every civilised society, the essence of paying tax is to make life good for the people. APC is committing to utilising the result properly for the betterment of the people. If people pay tax and they saw the justification in terms of infrastructure, they will be happy.”
