An epidemiologist, Dr Olumuyiwa Olusoji Daramola, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the House of Representatives seat representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.
Daramola’s emergence was taken at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, following the agreement of the leaders of the party in the state to zone the ticket of the House of Representatives in the constituency to Ode-Aye.
With stakeholders present at the meeting stressing that the decision will attract enormous support across the constituency, states that the move will promote inclusiveness and internal cohesion within the party and in the constituency
Reacting to his emergence, Daramola described the outcome of the meeting as a demonstration of true leadership and respect for established party structures.
While noting that zoning has remained a guiding principle in the party’s internal democratic process, he appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his leadership, and commitment to unity within the party, as well as other party leaders across the constituency.
Daramola, who vowed to deliver purposeful representation anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, and sustainable development,stated that, if elected, he would prioritise legislation and projects that directly impact the lives of his constituents.
“I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the leadership of our great party and the good people of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency. I remain committed to serving with integrity, dedication, and a clear focus on the needs of our people,” he stated
Daramola further assured party members and supporters of his commitment to upholding the core values of the party while synergising with stakeholders to ensure development of the constituency.
According to stakeholders, who were at the meeting, Daramola is a grassroots politician known for his consistent engagement with constituents and philanthropic interventions through his foundation.
They maintained that his initiatives, spanning healthcare support, community development, and youth empowerment, have earned him recognition as a committed advocate for the welfare of the people.
Daramola had in 2022 contested the APC primary against the incumbent member of the House of Representatives.
