The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has unveiled the final list of candidates for the chairmanship and councillorship elections scheduled for December 29, 2026.

The Chairman of OYSIEC, Dr Afees Adeniyi, presented the list on Tuesday, October 27, during an interactive meeting with Electoral Officers (EOs) and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) at the commission’s headquarters in Ibadan.

Adeniyi said nine out of the 15 activities outlined in the revised election timetable had been completed successfully.

He directed electoral officers to display the final list of candidates at OYSIEC offices across the state’s 33 local government areas from Wednesday, October 28.

The chairman also commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving funds for the conduct of the election, assuring that relevant stakeholders would be carried along in the electoral process.

The December 29 election will determine the next chairmen and councillors across the state’s local government areas.

As of Wednesday, the detailed list containing the names of candidates and their respective local government areas was being displayed at local government offices and had not yet been published online, according to the information provided.

Residents were advised to visit their respective OYSIEC offices to verify the candidates contesting in their areas.
