Say exercise conducted to fulfil righteousness, urge cancellation
Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Tunji Shelle, has described the recently concluded council election as an exercise to fulfil righteousness.

Shelle said: “Nobody expected anything better from the All Progressives Congress (APC). We are moving to a one-party in the state. Everything they do is for their selfish reason. This election was to fulfil all righteousness and not to elect the best. I dissociated myself from the election.

“The APC has come as an albatross to the development of the country, but things are going to change.

“What happened is not new to some of us. It has been a recurring thing.”

RELATEDLY, a faction of the Labour Party (LP) has asked the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to cancel the election and conduct a fresh one that will “reflect the genuine will of the people”

In a statement, yesterday, Ken Asogwa, Spokesperson to the Acting National Chair of a faction of the party, Nenadi Usman, said that what happened last Saturday was a “mockery of an election.”

The party further described the election as a “sham and a clear red flag,” accusing the APC of undermining democratic principles.

It said that the process was a “troubling sign of what the 2027 general election could look like.”

Asogwa said the outcome of the election should concern Nigerians who value democracy, describing it as “unprecedented in Nigeria’s electoral history.”

He alleged that the APC used the exercise to showcase its “disregard for due process.”
