A stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Abdulaziz Maituraka, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Umar Radda, will be re-elected in 2027 to complete a second term in office.
Maituraka spoke at the weekend during the launch of the Tinubu/Radda re-election campaign in Katsina, where he also organised an empowerment programme for 200 commercial tea sellers and APC officials.
He said the leadership qualities and achievements of both Tinubu and Radda over the past three years had demonstrated their commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy, adding that they deserved another mandate from Nigerians.
According to him, critics of the two administrations, particularly on issues of insecurity and economic hardship, have failed to acknowledge the efforts being made to address the country’s challenges.
He expressed optimism that both leaders would be better positioned to consolidate ongoing reforms and tackle the nation’s security and economic challenges if re-elected in 2027.
Maituraka, who is a senior aide to the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, urged Nigerians, particularly residents of Katsina State, to support the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Radda to enable them consolidate on their development programmes.
Speaking on the empowerment initiative, he said each of the 200 beneficiaries would receive crates of eggs, cartons of Indomie noodles and N20,000 in cash to support and expand their businesses.
He added that APC executives in Katsina Local Government Area, as well as party officials from its 11 wards, would also receive cash grants to establish small-scale businesses.
According to Maituraka, the intervention, implemented through his foundation, is aimed at cushioning the effects of the current economic hardship while strengthening micro and small businesses across the state.
He noted that many small business owners were struggling to sustain their livelihoods due to prevailing economic challenges and required support to remain productive.
Maituraka assured residents that additional empowerment programmes would be rolled out in the coming months to assist unemployed youths and other vulnerable members of society in becoming self-reliant.
He said the beneficiaries were selected in recognition of their contributions as grassroots party mobilisers who had remained committed to advancing the interests of the APC.
