Taraba 2027: DLA guber candidate Bayonga denies stepping down for Kefas

Hon. Aboki Bayonga and DLA Members

The governorship candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) in Taraba state, Stephen Aboki Bayonga, has denied reports suggesting that he has stepped down from the 2027 governorship race in favour of governor Agbu Kefas.

Bayonga described the rumour as unfounded, insisting that he had not withdrawn his candidacy or taken any decision to relinquish his ambition to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The denial comes amid political activities and speculations surrounding the 2027 governorship election, with different political parties and their candidates positioning themselves for the contest.

Bayonga’s clarification is expected to address questions surrounding his political ambition and the future of the DLA in the state’s evolving political landscape.

The DLA candidate’s position also underscores the importance of distinguishing between verified political decisions and unsubstantiated claims circulating within political circles.

As the 2027 election approaches, political alignments, endorsements and possible alliances are expected to remain subjects of public discussion.

However, Bayonga’s denial indicates that reports of his withdrawal in favour of the incumbent governor should not be treated as an established fact.

Governor Kefas, who is seeking to retain his position in the forthcoming election, is expected to face competition from candidates of other political parties, including the DLA.

Bayonga’s clarification leaves his governorship ambition intact, pending any formal announcement to the contrary.

The DLA candidate’s denial comes at a time when political parties and aspirants are working to strengthen their positions ahead of the election, making developments surrounding candidates’ intentions and possible political alliances matters of considerable public interest.
