Kogi government, firm to build 1,000 affordable homes

Kogi State government has signed a memorandum of understanding with a private developer, Onyx First Risers Limited, for the provision of 1,000 units of affordable housing scheme in Kogi State.

The Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Arike Ayoade, who disclosed this at the signing of memorandum of understanding (MOU)in her office, stated that the government was poised to revolutionise housing and develop agro allied industries in the state.

She pointed the state government signed another MOU with Emperium Industries Nigeria Limited for the production Marlstone Pellets as part of efforts to process the abundantly mineral resources in the State.

“The MoU between Kogi State Government and EForce Agro Developers Limited for the Building of Infrastructure of Modern Agro-Complex Food Production in Kogi State was aimed at boosting food security in the state.

“The technical partners will provide over 5,000 jobs for the youth, which would boost economic activities in Kogi State,” she added.

According to the Secretary to the State government, who spoke on behalf of Governor Bello, the housing estate would be cited in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Managing Director, CEO of Onyx First Risers Ltd., Essey Okagbare, said his organisation is partnering with Kogi State government to develop 1,000 housing units in Lokoja.

Okagbare pointed out that the idea was conceived three months ago, while the ground-breaking ceremony would come up in February 2022.

He assured the state government that the project would be environmentally friendly.
