Loko-Oweto bridge, road projects ready, says FG

Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has said the Loko-Oweto Bridge and the roads linking two states, Benue, Nasarawa into Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, have been completed and is ready for inauguration soon.

Fashola who stated this while on fifth visit to the projects, explained, there was essentially nothing here and now we have a bridge over River Niger, adding that when the roads are fully completed, they would be of great benefit to the citizens.

He declared: “The bridge had been completed and we are waiting to connect the link roads. What remained are the approach roads to the bridge. Communities, motorists and commuters along the corridors of the projects will soon enjoy the route to Abuja.”

According to the works and housing minister, the link roads are a on a finishing stage and they can report to President Muhammadu Buhari that Loko-Oweto Bridge is now ready to be formally commissioned and opened for traffic.

“The project is the demonstration of the government’s commitment to infrastructure growth and development of Nigeria. No country can produce without infrastructure. We cannot drive the economy without these important projects.”

Speaking on behalf of the communities, the Chairman, Loko Local Council, Shaibu Umah, expressed appreciation to government for the construction of the Loko-Oweto bridge, saying, when fully completed and commissioned it, would open business opportunities in the area.
