Child actress Raihana Jimoh, popularly known as Rai and the daughter of award-winning film director and screenwriter Abey Jomo, has added another feather to her cap after emerging as a guest speaker at the 2026 Girl Child Day celebration organised by the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The young actress, known on Instagram as @rai.jomo, was selected to open the floor of speeches at the event held on Monday, October 12, at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where students from schools across Ogun State gathered to mark the occasion.
For Rai, a native of Ijemo in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the state, the invitation offered an opportunity to step beyond her familiar world of film and entertainment to participate in a conversation centred on the girl child.
Her selection also placed her among speakers at an event designed to educate and engage young people on issues affecting girls, their development and their place in society.
Among the prominent personalities at the gathering was the immediate past Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, who is also the APC candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency.
Others in attendance included Alhaja Riskat Ogunfemi, a former member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission and retired permanent secretary; Mrs Oluwatosin Moriamo Oloko, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; and Mrs Folusho Obeinu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The event provided a platform for speakers and participating schools to reflect on the importance of educating, empowering and supporting girls as they navigate the challenges of growing up.
For Raihana, whose budding acting career has introduced her to the world of entertainment at a young age, the appearance marked a notable moment in her growing public profile, bringing her into the conversation on issues concerning children and young people.
With her participation in the state-organised celebration, the young performer demonstrated that the spotlight can extend beyond the screen, offering young talents opportunities to engage with their communities and issues that affect their generation.
