IT’S not gain-saying, Lagos has seen its fair share of high-octane events, but every once in a while, a night comes along that feels less like a party and more like a cultural landmark.
This was the situation at The Delborough Lagos, a luxury hospitality brand, where business met style and innovation met influence.
If the walls of The Delborough could talk, they’d be whispering about the sheer level of glamour that descended upon Lagos recently. The air at the venue was thick with more than just the scent of luxury; it was a literal power surge as Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, in partnership with luxury hospitality brand, hosted some of Nigeria’s most powerful business and public sector leaders for an exclusive gala night.
Hosted by Mojibade Sosanya, the event brought together decision-makers from politics, technology, aviation, hospitality, FMCG, insurance, fashion and beauty, and the public sector for an evening of elevated conversations, entertainment, and strategic connections.
The red carpet wasn’t just a walkway; it was a statement. While the evening was technically about strengthening the business ecosystem, the visual narrative was dominated by three women: Tiwa Savage, Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde and Erica Nlewedim, who define Nigerian excellence in very different ways.
From the moment the guests arrived, the tone was set for what would later be described as a night of sophistication and purpose.
Tiwa brought her signature “Queen of Afrobeats” poise, Omotola reminded everyone why she remains the blueprint for Nollywood glamour, and Erica turned heads with a look that redefined black-tie elegance.
Dressed in what can only be described as high-octane sophistication, Tiwa’s presence served as a reminder that Nigerian music is now a blue-chip asset. As the gold standard of Nollywood royalty, Omosexy’s presence added a layer of timeless prestige to the night, bridging the gap between the pioneers of the creative industry and the new tech frontier.
Representing the powerhouse of the “New Gen” and the creator economy, Erica’s style was a masterclass in modern influence. Her ability to command a room filled with presidents and CEOs proves that the line between celebrity and business mogul has officially evaporated.
While the business titans and political heavyweights like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, were busy discussing the future of the economy, it was the arrival of Nigeria’s entertainment royalty that truly set the flashbulbs off.
Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, earlier in his keynote speech, reflected on the company’s journey and its evolving role as a financial infrastructure partner for Nigeria’s biggest businesses.
He said, “Nigeria is home, and it remains one of our most important markets. Our goal is to build deeper relationships with the businesses and leaders driving the economy. Flutterwave has the infrastructure to support industries across aviation, hospitality, FMCG, tech, and beyond, and we are committed to working closely with Nigerian businesses as they grow locally and expand globally.”
Also commenting, Dr. Stanley Ifeanyi Uzochukwu, Chairman and Founder of The Delborough, said: “At The Delborough, our vision is to provide world-class hospitality for leaders who are shaping industries and the future of our country.
“Hosting this Gala with Flutterwave enables us to do what we are best at – creating a space where meaningful business relationships can be built, ideas can flow, and excellence is experienced at every touchpoint.”
Other guests at the gala include Dr. Cosmas Maduka, President and CEO of Coscharis Group, Sir Olu Okeowo, Founder and Chairman of Gibraltar Construction Nigeria Limited, Dr. Michael Onuoha C, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Ailes Group, Ernest Ndukwe, Chairman of the Board of Directors, MTN Nigeria, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, and Pastor Flourish Peters.
The night ended on a high note with a live band, dancing, and continued networking over exquisite cuisine.
