Professionals in the creative industry and Christian leaders have come together to foster stronger partnerships between the church, media and entertainment industry.

Professionals in the creative industry and Christian leaders have come together to foster stronger partnerships between the church, media and entertainment industry.

This was the thrust at an evening of media and entertainment conversations, which took place recently at HSE Gourmet, Lekki, co-hosted by lead pastor, Harvesters International Christian Centre, Bolaji Idowu and Founder of Restoring Issachar’s Generation (RIG) Nation, Tomi Arayomi.

Moderated by Global Director of Content, Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), Toyosi Etim-Effiong, in attendance were award-winning Nollywood veteran, Joke Silva, AMVCA 2022 Best Actor winner Stan Nze and his wife, actress Blessing Obasi, Akah Nnani of the Man of God fame and his wife, Claire Idera, award-winning actress and producer Adunni Ade, renowned dancer, coach and entrepreneur Kaffy Shafau, media entrepreneur Tosin Ajibade of Olori Supergal, Big Brother Nigeria’s Sir Dee and Neo; Jimmy Odukoya, Shawn Faqua, Yolanda Okereke, Femi Leye, Emmanuel Ikubese and Tomike Adeoye.

In his remark, Arayomi apologised on behalf of the church to the entertainment industry for being judged and condemned in the past, pointing out the culture-shaping influence the media possesses. He said the meeting was to change any negative impression the industry had towards the church.

On his part, Idowu said the love of God is not exclusive to any industries and certainly did not exclude the entertainment industry. “We want to answer your questions and queries and learn how to serve you better in your field. We want to harmoniously work with you to create the content you want to produce. We need more wholesome content on our screens and it’s time for the church to support those with a vision to produce such content.”

The meeting was described by several in attendance as long overdue as they took turns in sharing what they hoped meetings like this would achieve over time. However, the major requests of the group to the hosts were community funding for projects and spiritual covering.
