For fast-rising singer and songwriter, David Luka Dagwon, popularly known as DEE3, the goal for him to stay relevant is simple, that is, build a unique style of music and never stop feeding his fans quality music.

From the moment he got signed to BBE record label, his journey to success appears to have taken a leap, as he said his dream and aspiration to be one of the greatest are being matched by his label’s desire to give him the needed support.

But contrary to popular beliefs, Dee3’s rise hasn’t been accidental, but the result of a consistent rhythm of hard work, brilliance, and tenacity.

He said: “It’s been an incredible journey. When I look back on it today, I just say to myself ‘it was worth it. It wasn’t an easy ride to get to this stage. Some challenges open you up to other possibilities; others just push you real hard. How you come back from that is totally up to you. And I’m grateful to God and everyone who stood by me up to this very moment.”

For someone who has broken through a fiery furnace to hit the limelight, Dee3 knows that having a talent is not enough to become and remain very relevant in a Nigerian music industry filled with stars daily releasing back-to-back hits.

“Talent is really not enough. There are so many talented artistes in Nigeria right now. For me, the plan is to stand out, make a unique style and stay in the faces of music lovers. I also want to show everyone what I’ve got to offer, believe me, it’s a lot of work, but we will get it done,” he stressed.

Since Dee3 dropped his first single in 2021, the promising artiste has never relented, even as he seems to make it one step at a time. “I am just taking it one step at a time. Actually, I released my first single under BBE recently. Together with the label, we decided to keep it that way because we were working on GAL (Give Attention and Love). And having so much music outside without a decent enough control didn’t feel like the right move. And now GAL is here,” he explained.

But despite the spirited rate at which musical contents are being released daily in the country, Dee3 said he has decided to take his music to the highest level and standard possible.

” When you look at how fast Nigerian music is moving and how far we have come, it gives so much hope to people like us. It shows that there’s still so much out there to achieve. I’m gunning for the highest level possible. I would like to push myself to that point. I have learned from the greats and those that have done it before me. I am learning from those who are currently doing it too. There’s a lot to learn and I want to use it to my advantage to reach my goals.”

Despite being a new face in the entertainment industry, Dee3’s latest single titled ‘Tonight’, has continued to gain massive traction in the Nigerian music scene with its fresh breath of vibe, sound, and music.

The quick rise has even been unbelievable to the budding Nigerian artiste himself. “To be honest, I’m not sure I can put it into words. I wake up every morning with this feeling of excitement and it feels really good. I’m really happy and that’s me being modest about it.”

Speaking on what inspired him into music, he said: “The answer to this is music. Listening to good music and my idols got me so interested in it. I found out I wanted to do what they were doing. Make good sounds and good music, and in turn make people feel really good when they listen to me, the same way they made me feel. This was all the inspiration I needed.”

To have produced some of the finest Nigerian music acts, Dee3 said his hometown, Jos, is no doubt a talent headquarters. “It is a talent headquarters because it has been the starting point for many top music acts in Nigeria. Seeing the likes of MI Abaga, Jeremiah Gyang and Ice Prince make something of themselves really inspired many of us in Jos. It showed us that we can do better too. Jos will always be home for me,” he said.

Dee3, who attributed his recent joining of the Universal PR brand to the solid reputation that the band has garnered globally, said going forward, his fans should expect nothing, but good music from his evergreen talent factory. But outside the walls of music, Dee3 said he treasures football and being indoors amidst his friends and loved ones alongside some good foods.
