Asotiayé restates commitment towards pushing boundaries in Fashion
Asotiayé an indigenous unisex fashion house has stated that its latest haute couture collection titled, Dance of the Celestials is in line with the brand’s vision to challenge the status quo of the Nigerian fashion space.
Featuring edgy high end pieces, the collection was unveiled during the 2024 edition of the Nigerian Student Fashion and Design Week (NSFDW), which held in Lagos.
According to a statement by the brand, the body of work of the designs consists of eight new fashion forward pieces inspired from deities such as Egungun, Yemoja and Olokun of the Yoruba people of the western region, Nigeria.
According to Asotiayé Creative Director, Ayodeji Abdulhameed the concept serves as a vibrant celebration of the Yoruba people’s rich cultural heritage, showcasing the unparalleled beauty and uniqueness of African culture.
“The Dance of the Celestials collection embodies the essence of our cultural identity, highlighting its intricate patterns, symbolic expressions, and majestic splendour.
“By embracing our cultural roots, we pay tribute to the timeless beauty that defines us, fostering a deeper appreciation for the richness that makes us who we are”, Ayodeji added.
On his part, Fashion Designer, Asotiayé, Mona Christian pointed out that the outfits are not conventional or commercial but rather a deep form of self expression.
He explained that all pieces in the collection can be worn occasionally to events and sophisticated outings especially red carpet events. as each piece symbolises a representation of African culture and the crucial role it plays in haute couture.
