Finally, love finds Boss Lady, Egor Efiok

It was all red roses and butterflies two Saturdays ago, as Chief Executive Officer of E4PR and multi-award winning British/Nigerian trained filmmaker Egor Efiok and her sweetheart Kelly Okpa Odock vowed to stick together as man and wife for the rest of their lives.

Family, friends and colleagues, including the President of Pan African Film Consortium Mykel Parish, ace broadcaster Isreal Edjeren, notable actress Mary Ann Apollo, veteran journalist Dan Akpovwa, actress Doris Akonanya, veteran actor Kenneth Okonkwo and the group programme director of Cool FM/Wazobia FM/Nigeria Info and Arewa radio Prince Daniel Aboki converged on The Transforming Church Abuja to witness the solemnisation of the wedding between the two love birds who met in April 2020 and have by their all glamourous wedding ceremony allowed the rest to be history as they say in local parlance.

An elated Egor revealed that the journey to her becoming ‘Mrs. Egor Kelly’ started in April 2020, just after Kelly’s birthday and during the COVID-19 lockdown in Calabar, Cross River State.

“We met in April 2020, just after his birthday and during lockdown in Calabar. He lives in Abuja, but came to Calabar to buy a Hilux for his Agriculture business and got locked down there. We spent almost every day of the next two months together watching Netflix and driving to Ikom, where he is from. After lockdown, he returned to Abuja and spent two months convincing me to visit him in Abuja. I finally succumbed and went to visit him in August 2020.

“I had initially intended on spending two weeks in Abuja, and stayed with my friend, Precious, but we became so close, as he came every single day, right after work, to take me out. I ended up staying with Precious for three months and then decided to rent my own apartment, as the realisation dawned on me that this was no ordinary relationship. In December 2020, he drove me to Calabar to pack all my belongings back to Abuja, and the rest, as they say, is history,” Egor, popular among entertainment journalists as Lady Boss, enthused.

Currently, Hollywood Weekly Magazine’s African Correspondent and Ambassador, Egor, described by close friends and colleagues as hardworking and a driven team leader, said she feels fulfilled having finally found Kelly whom she described as her ‘soulmate’.

In her words, “I feel fulfilled, because I have finally found my soulmate in Kelly Okpa Odock. I also feel properly married now. The first one was in London in 2003 and it was just a registry marriage. We went the whole hog with this one (traditional, white and registry); and this time around, this is my last marriage bus stop, for affliction shall not rise a second time, in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen,” she prayed.

Asked if she will be able to manage her busy schedule as a filmmaker and Public Relations expert with being a wife, Egor who was full of thanks to the wedding planner, VC Events and Od Kriz Photography, replied, “As you already know, I am an expert at multi-tasking, so it shouldn’t be an issue. I will perform my duties as a wife and still go about my work as filmmaker, journalist, PR specialist and philanthropist. Nothing will suffer for another.”

A self-confessed workaholic and perfectionist, Egor’s advice to young women in Nollywood is never to look or search for love, but allow love to find them.

Don’t look or search for love, or else you may end up kissing too many frogs and not even finding your prince. Just be yourself and go about your normal business; love will find you. It will happen when you least expect and it will not stress you at all. A real man who loves you will not beat about the bush,’’ she said.

An accredited sales agent at international film markets, Egor was born in Liverpool, England. An Education Studies graduate of the University Of Greenwich in London, Egor was also a teacher in London for eight years before returning to her first love of writing, acting and filmmaking. One time Director General (DG) of the Cross River State owned Callywood, Egor is the president of Professional Filmmakers of Nigeria (PFN) and the Matron of Ambassadors For Enterprise (AFE).

The unpretentiously friendly Egor runs one of the most sought after talent Management Company in Nigeria and she has unarguably used and has continued to use the platform of Hollywood Weekly Magazine to create meaningful collaborations between Hollywood and Nollywood and within the Nigerian Tourism and Filmmaking Industries.
