A philanthropic organisation based in Lagos, Rajasthani Samaj, last Sunday, successfully donated wheelchairs to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
The event, which held at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, saw recipients come with their family members to collect the wheelchairs.
The donation aimed to enhance mobility and quality of life of the PWDs, and also support the foundation’s mission to aid vulnerable community.
The event was also graced by the nursing staff, students, and hospital officials.
Recipients and their families expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rajasthani Samaj.
One of the recipient’s mother visibly became very emotional and, with tears in her eyes, thanked the group. Hospital staff also appreciated the initiative.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Sanjay Jain, President of the Samaj (Association), stated that this project was chosen under their charity outreach as it is the “most appropriate.”
He said, “the decision to give wheel chairs to the needy to ease out their day-to-day life looks very apt one. It was truly heartening to see the impact.”
He noted that a wheelchair helps restore a degree of independence for the recipient and significantly reduces the burden on family members.
He added, “this initiative has further motivated us to do more for those in need.
