Growing list of celebrity marriages and messy breakups
While some Moviedom practitioners are declaring to live ‘for better for worse’ with their heartthrobs, a few others are calling it or have called it to quit. The lens this time is on those who took marital vows recently and those who have somewhat decided to break their marital vows.

Those who said ‘I do’
It has been three weeks of straight wedding ceremonies in Nollywood this April. First, it was the carnival-like wedding between star actress Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Nwaturoucha and Publisher of Daily Times Fidelis Anosike.
The wedding tagged ‘Reeldeel2022’ was held between April 18 and 19, in Imo State and was graced by some of Nollywood’s best, including Joke Silva Jacobs, Chioma Akpotha, Shan George, Chidi Mokeme, Hilda Dokubo, Ini Edo, Nse Ikpe Etim, Charles Inojie and the Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson.
Following the colourful traditional marriage between Rita and Anosike was another equally colourful wedding ceremony. This time, it was the turn of Nigerian filmmaker, music video director and producer Kemi Adetiba that tied the knot with her long time Ghanaian lover who is a music executive, Oscar Heman-Ackah. The couple agreed to be man and wife at a court wedding ceremony in Ikoyi, Lagos, on April 22. Close friends and family members attended the ceremony.

Using the hashtag #undeniablyours2022, Kemi shared a photo on Instagram and wrote: ‘Officially Official’.
The traditional wedding ceremony was as colourful as the court wedding ceremony. It was a star-studded event that attracted stars such as Shaffy Bello, Toyin Abraham, Sola Sobowale, Toke Makinwa, Adesua Etomi and her hubby Banky W, Sharon Ooja and Ghanaian actress Jocelyn Dumas. It will be recalled that social media quacked after the filmmaker shared beautiful moments from her surprise marriage proposal, which occurred in Ghana on 28th January.
Adetiba best known for helming the thriller King Of Boys had revealed back then that her lover Oscar Heman-Ackah popped up the big question, and she wholeheartedly said yes. With the ceremony last week, the filmmaker has been well taken and she has also officially exited the unofficial club of ‘still single’ in Nollywood.
While the entire netizens were still wallowing in the colourful marriage between Kemi and Oscar, words reached them that another colourful ceremony was going on in Abia State. This time, it was the wedding ceremony between the actor and comedian Daniel Iroegbu aka Mc Obeleife and his heartthrob. Daniel is popular as Prince, a role he plays in the popular sitcom on African Magic The Johnsons.
Prince is the Igbo man in The Johnsons with a strong business persuasion. He has a strong Igbo accent and he is notable for mispronouncing the letters “l” and “ r” in words. Not many of his fans knew that Prince had already exchanged marital vows with his fiancée until popular Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze aka Aki took to his Instagram page to share videos of himself on the dance floor with Daniel at the wedding ceremony.
Ikedieze was among popular celebrities that stormed the event of his fellow The Johnson’s co-star Mc Obeleife. Charles Inojie and other actors in The Johnson tv series also attended their colleague’s traditional wedding.
Ikedieze had captioned the Instagram post thus: “Happy married life to my guy #PrinceOFTheJohnsons @mcobeleife1 May God bless your union brotherly.” With the successful wedding, Prince has been delisted from the unofficial list of bachelors in Moviedom.
Those in the ‘Trenches’
WE mentioned here three weeks ago that the marriage between Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing and her erstwhile ‘honey pie’ Opeyemi Falegan has crashed. We also reported that another celebrated marriage— the marriage between Nollywood actress Tawa Ajifesin and businessman Mayowa Alli had also crashed. Close sources hinted that the marriage packed up because of the decision of Mayowa Alli to reunite with his first wife in the United State.
The entire netizens were still discussing how it ended between Tawa and Alli when news filtered that the marriage between filmmaker Tchidi Chikere and actress Nuella Njubigbo has ended. It will be recalled that Tchidi and Nuella became an item about eight years ago when news broke that Tchidi had called off his 11-year-old marriage to Sophia his first wife and mother of his three children.
Nuella and Tchidi then got married in a traditional wedding held in her family compound in Anambra state in March 2014 and their marriage was blessed with a daughter. But it is now official that Nuella and Tchidi are no longer man and wife.
In an Instagram post he shared during the week, Tchidi declared that the marriage ended because Nuella took her things and sneaked out of their matrimonial home.
Tchidi wrote in reply to a critic who slammed him for supporting the actor Yul Edochie who announced during the week that he has taken another wife and had a son with a second wife “my first marriage lasted 11 years, my second lasted 7 years until she took her things and sneaked out of the house. The problem with some of you women is you think you run the world because men don’t talk. Maybe one day I will tell my story…”
Tchidi post only confirms that his celebrated marriage to pretty Nuella has packed up.
