Notable actress Obianuju Blessing Okeke has been honoured by the department of theatre and film studies of her Alma Mata, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

The ‘Mission to No Where’ star was last week awarded a plaque of excellence in film artistry.

According to a citation read at the award ceremony, Uju was honored for her consistency and for being a good ambassador of the department and the university.

An elated Uju as the actress is simply called took to her social media handles on receipt of the plaque and wrote: ‘Recognition that has come from your people…. your Alma Mata is the best form of recognition.

I thank my department and my university for the recognition’’.

A trained stage and screen actress, Uju walked into the limelight in 2007 after the Jury of the African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) named her best new actress.

The well-peopled board of international jurors found the Anambra State born actress worthy in role delivery as the maid in that Teco Benson thriller ‘Mission to No Where’.

Since then the theatre arts graduate of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Akwa has been on a mission that will place her on the top rung in Nollywood.

Asked in an earlier interview about her career ambition, Uju replied: “my career ambition as an actress is to be the best in Nollywood and beyond and also to through my acting affect lives positively. I want to be reckoned with for being good at whatever I am doing.”
