I’m to rule Afro Pop genre – Specdo
Fast-rising music act, Ajayi Solomon, who well known with the stage name Specdo, has put fans and lovers of Afro-Pop music on notice with his determination to rule the genre of music in the country.
The singer and songwriter stated this in a chat with The Guardian in Lagos. Specdo, who dropped his fourth album in 2018 with the Upgrade EP, is set to drop a new hit titled Manyan, featuring Tekno and Solidstar.
The Oghara in Delta State native made his debut with the studio album entitled Community Riot in 2006 and followed up with another album entitled Tatoo Baby, Scatter Body, I Move from Grass to Grace successively, under Bravos Entertainment Imprint.
Commenting on Community Riot, Specdo said he was inspired to write the song as a result of a riot in his community, adding that his fans and admirers massively accept his kind of music.
He gave kudos to 2Baba (2Face Idibia) for inspiring him to come into the music industry. He stated that the songs are based on his personal and other people’s experiences.
The artiste, who is growing bigger by the day, revealed he had done collaborations with Edem Aigbe from Ghana and Omotena crooner, Solidstar. He added that his favorite stage performance was in Kumasi, Ghana and it was spectacular with many of the fans showing him love.
Assessing the Nigerian music industry, Specdo said that it is full of opportunities and needs hard work to face the competition.
He encouraged young people who want to follow his footsteps to imbibe the principle of hard work and believe in themselves, adding that they should not give up on their dream and always remember to pray because prayer is the key to success.
The artiste predicted that his takeover would happen sooner than later, adding that in the next five years he is going to be one of the most successful musicians in the world.
On the challenges faced as a rising act, the musician said his biggest challenge doing music is promoting his music and shooting his videos.
