K1, Davido, Teni, others set for ‘Eko On Show’ festival

As part of activities to celebrate the nation’s 61st independence and officially open up the state for showbiz activities after the lockdown, Lagos State Government has announced a special festival tagged ‘Eko On Show’ to commemorate the anniversary.

(Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf; the Permanent Secretary, of the Ministry, Princess Adenike Adedoyin-Ajayi and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Tunji Saymour, during the press conference to announce the ‘Eko on Show’ festival at Muri-Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

As part of activities to celebrate the nation’s 61st independence and officially open up the state for showbiz activities after the lockdown, Lagos State Government has announced a special festival tagged ‘Eko On Show’ to commemorate the anniversary.

The festival, which holds on Friday, 15 October at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, will be a hybrid event with an exhilarating line up of some of the country’s top entertainment and fashion powerhouse via music concert, fashion shows, dance production, and a tantalizing array of food and drink.

Speaking at the media unveiling of the festival on Tuesday, the Hon. Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, said Lagos is marking this year’s independence anniversary is a different and thus the coming of ‘Eko On Show’.

Her words: “This Eko On Show Festival is designed to raise the spirits of Lagosians, give them inspiration, and entertain them with the rich and vibrant culture of Lagos and its people.”

According to Akinbile-Yusuf, entertainment, fashion and food, are huge drivers of the State’s economy and “they embody the spirit of our independence and have helped Nigerian culture to make its mark on the world,” she added.

The Festival will be headlined by music superstars including Davido, D’Banj, Tiwa Savage and Teni. They will share the stage with veterans like KWAM 1, Sir Shina Peters, Dede Mabiaku and celebrated drummer, Ara, as well as teenage sensation, Ayra Starr.

Dance fans can look forward to a spectacular performance created by Kaffy Kreative agency, while fashion lovers will be enticed by the collections from top designers like Lanre Da Silva and Beth Models.

Also, there will be a special segment from Nike Art Gallery to be curated by popular media personality, Azuka Ogujioba.

Akinbile-Yusuf further explained that the festival will strictly adhere to Covid-19 protocols, and only 500 lucky guests from across Lagos will hosted live at the Muri Okunola Park, venue of the event, while thousands of other fun seekers that would join virtually will be treated to an exhilarating evening of celebration of Nigeria’s music, dance, fashion and foods.
