Shina Peters, Reminisce, to headline Ofada Rice Day

Afrojuju artist, Sir Shina Peters and rapper, Reminisce will headline the fifth edition of the annual Ofada Rice Day Festival, the biggest indigenous food festival in Nigeria. The festival which celebrates Nigerian heritage, particularly the nutritious home-grown food hold on Sunday December 3, 2023 at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Tagged, ‘Ofadabration’, the event is aimed to feed Nigeria with Nigerian food, promoting the consumption of locally grown, healthful meals. According to the convener and founder, Ofada boy, Oluwatobi Fletcher, the event will be a family fun-fair outing curated to allow attendees, with their families (including Children) have a feel of the local delicacy in varieties, while getting entertained by performances of multiple artists that cuts across generations.

“This year’s event will take another shape as guests will be treated to live performance by veteran juju maestro, Sir Shina Peters, Reminisce and a host of other talented artists that will be unveiled as the planning progresses.”

Speaking on the collaboration with the ministry of Agriculture, the Commissioner of Agriculture, Lagos state, Ruth Abisola Olusanya said the laudable festival further reiterates the importance of homegrown rice, while noting that the state has the highest number of rice farmers, most of its farms are situated in Ogun state due to the spars of land needed to cultivate rice. She however added that the festival is an opportunity to relax and enjoy a native celebration which is unique and significant to Nigeria.

Hosted by Gbenga Adeyinka (GCFR) and Tomike Adeoye; the Ofada Rice Day Festival is equally an event that helps to provide vital information to support local farmers to increase cultivation, enhancing Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
