Online Mobile Phones ‘War’
T4T is old school, he does not know much about mobile phones and other gadgets. Aside from receiving calls and replying messages, well, he knows not more than that. So, when people discuss how advanced; technology wise, a particular phone is, T4T’s ears are always dipped inside waters, literarily.
And that is why he is not too concerned about the ongoing war between social media personalities, VeryDarkBlackMan aka VDM, Blord and Odinaka (Mama Uka) over the price(s) of mobile phones shipped from China, at the moment. But for the benefit of you, yes, you, who buys the latest phone as soon as it hits the market, you won’t be reading this here.
The battle over a particular brand of phone from China has pitched Blord, VDM and Odinaka (Mama Uka) against each other. Blord, T4T thought was into crypto currency trading or something like that, never knew he had diversified into mobile phone sales because he was the first person to drop the sales and marketing links to the product. He claimed he was dealing directly with his Chinese partners and the cost of the phone was pegged at over N450, 000. That is pretty much for a mobile phone in this period where many folks are looking for ordinary garri to drink, but then, all fingers are not equal, says the old proverb many of us grew up to hear.
Like the proverbial tortoise that is always in every story, VDM quickly countered Blord and claimed the same phone was far more cheaper than Blord’s selling price. He did not stop there, he publicly announced a cheaper selling price of about 200, 000. This earned him a backlash from some of his critics and other social media influencers for “spoiling ‘ another man’s business’.
Odinaka (Mama Uka) jumped into the fray. The She/he (because T4T does not know the gender of that fella till date) has posted a far more cheaper selling price which is currently rocking social media space. According to Mama Uka, the same phone being advertised by his/her mates for 450,000 and less can actually sell for between 200,000 and 220,000
What T4T finds very amusing is the ongoing debate and fight between the fans of these three social media personalities. They have been chasing each other with ‘cutlasses’, online, for days now and the whole thing is no longer funny. The ever garrulous young VDM will not back down(dat boy quarrel pass village woman), and Blord, his familiar ‘enemy’ has fallen into his trap once again because both young men have been having running battles online for over a year now.
This is T4T’s submission. The last time we all checked, Nigeria operates a free/open market policy. Nobody regulates prices of goods (when we are not in North Korea), so, if VDM and Mama Uka say their phones are cheaper, go and patronise them and let Blord eat his phones if he refuses to bring down his prices. But if you so much love Blord and wants to increase his billions, feel free and buy his products even if they are one million higher in prices than VDM and Mama Uka’s. And by the way, since Mama Uka appears to be the one selling at the cheapest and most affordable price for now, oya, rush to his/her shop and buy as many as you can and even go back to your neighbourhood and resell and make your profits instead of killing each other over the businesses of others.
Anyways, the latest video of VDM T4T ran into online about three days ago saw him boasting that when he returned to Nigeria from China(oh, T4T forgot to tell you that he appears to be in China at the moment), he was going to set up phones and electronic gadgets shop nationwide that will force the prices of these products down even as he bemoaned the exploitative nature of dealers who he described as “wicked, greedy and unpatriotic”(not his words exactly sha).
Well, T4T hopes VDM would make good on his promises because of a truth, phones and electronic gadgets sellers have had Nigerians on a chokehold for too long because they can go to China. Now, VDM has discovered the same China route (like Mungo Park discovered our Niger River that year na), the ‘asiri’ (secret) of these importers has been exposed.
Ride on VDM, T4T is behind you all the way, but sha, don’t let all dese ya boasting turn out to be all those una online ‘cruise’, as you children of this generation call display of stupidity.
Who is This Young Artiste?
AFTER T4T saw the music video this young man that DSTV repeats regularly, he was forced to look him up on Google even as he asked where he has been all this while. Is it ‘unluck’ or it is not yet his time or it is his time to ‘blow’ now? Because T4T cannot understand why Ric Hassani, with that voice and body and face is not the poster boy of the Nigeria music scene tagging along the likes of greats like Davido and co.
Hassani’s song that will soon take over the scene (if it has not done that already) is “Love & Romance”. That young man can sing, and he truly sang in that song. The lyrics, both in English and Nigeria Pidgin English are gripping, so gripping, you should stop everything you are doing momentarily and soak them in, unless your heart is made of Olumo Rock remnants.
T4T took some time to wonder why Davido who does not take time to ‘jump’ into songs like that by budding artistes have not done that by now. E nor dey tay David, the son of Adeleke to shout ‘shekpe’ and fiam, he has featured(for free o) in the song that he knows will soon or is already taking over the airwaves and streets. Smart dude, Davido.
Ric Hassani, T4T is hereby wishing you well and may ‘Love & Romance’ blow you to the top. By the way, the video shot by Olu The Wave is BOOM! Nice job, fella.
