It was a two-in-one celebration for UK-based socialite and philanthropist, Chief (Mrs) Mariam Abimbola Onifade last weekend, as she was installed by the Alapeju of Ilupeju, Oba Akinnayode Aderogba Olusoji, as the Yeye Bewaji of Ilupeju kingdom during the official launch of her beauty outlet – Daimies Beauty Spa.
The event, held at the New Empire Hotel & Lounge, Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State, attracted dignitaries across different sector of the economy, including traditional rulers and social associations who paid homage to the woman described by many as epitome of philanthropism, due to her impacts in putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.
While speaking on the journey that led to her recognition for the new title, Onifade said her acknowledgment was borne out of her determination and passion to give back to the society. “I just want to thank God for everything, because it is a story of grace. I am just being me in all aspects, looking out for others, my community, reaching out to people struggling etc which is what led to this recognition.” Onifade however advised Nigerians, especially the youths to be focused, work hard and pray.
On his part, the monarch, Oba Olusoji, who said the title is well deserved, noted that there have been lots of testimonies from those whose lives have been touched through Onifade’s milk of human kindness. He urged Onifade not to relent on her efforts but to build on her service to humanity and continue to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.
