Uduak Isong’s Beautiful People set for premiere

Award winning filmmaker Uduak Isong announced during the week that her film, Beautiful People, a drama, which looks at the challenges in relationships across different age groups, is set for premiere.

Award winning filmmaker Uduak Isong announced during the week that her film, Beautiful People, a drama, which looks at the challenges in relationships across different age groups, is set for premiere.

The movie is promoted as a story of three different generations of women; a teenager on a journey of self-discovery, a middle aged woman afraid to commit again after a broken relationship and a woman in her fifties seeking a fresh start.

According to the filmmaker, Beautiful People will premiere on Sunday, March 27, at the Courthouse Cinema, Shoreditch, London. There will be a cocktail and a Q and A session by the director and discussions about the Nigerian film industry after the screening.

The film features seasoned Nigerian film stars such as Kanayo O Kanayo, Clarion Chukwurah, Chioma Chukwuka, Deyemi Okanlanwon, Yvonne Jegede and others.

The director, Uduak Isong Oguamanam, who recently graduated from the University of Kent with a Masters in Film, says, “I made this film primarily to entertain but also to provoke thought and initiate conversations about gender roles particularly in family settings.”

Uduak is one of Nigeria’s most acclaimed filmmakers popularly known for her award winning film, Falling and Okon Lagos. Beautiful People is her feature directorial debut.
