‘We need to educate our children on security and safety’

Book cover by Richard Amuwa

In this regard, Security Consultant and the National President, Child Safety Education and Protection Initiative (CSEPI), Richard Amuwa, has published 92 pages and seven chapters book on security titled Security & Safety Guide For Teens And Guardians.

According to him, the book was written in order to enlighten children and guardians on security and safety.

“Thousands of children are treated with reckless abandon, sold to rape, abducted, and abuses. Many children fall, victims, because they were not given security and safety education drills. Parents cannot keep eyes on their children for 24 hours, which signifies the need to educate pupils, parents, and guardians on security and safety.

Amuwa noted that “There’s a clear indication of how important it is for our children to be empowered through security and safety education to enable them to prepare for the prevailing security and safety challenges in our society today. This simplified security and safety booklet provides children with the information needed to be safe daily. It contains security topics like bullying prevention tips, abduction tips, tips on security and safety, parenting tips, child protection, sexual abuse prevention, how children can respond to an emergency, drug abuse prevention and general security tips for children and guardians.”

He informed that the book is delivered in a simple, easy to understand manner to ensure that children/teenagers do not become overwhelmed.

“With this book, I hope to create awareness among children, parents, and caregivers on security and safety. Also to empower and educate children, school resource persons, parents/caregivers to be able to handle security and safety-related challenges that face them.”
