Fuji vibrations returns for fifth edition in Lagos
Nigeria’s biggest Fuji music concert, Fuji Vibrations, is back for its fifth edition this coming Thursday at the Muri Okunola Park, in Lagos’ Victoria Island suburb.
Organized by the Fuji: A Opera initiative, and in partnership with the Fuji Musicians Association (FUMAN), this edition would see fuji stars such as Saheed Osupa, Obesere, Malaika, Ajoke Cinderella, Kwam 1 The Ultimate, Remi Aluko, Sulaimon Atawewe, among others. The event which is also free-to-attend is renowned for its adrenaline-charged experience, and strong festival spirit.
Last year’s Fuji Vibrations saw over 5,000 people gathered at the same park to celebrate the genre’s heritage. This year, its organisers are also commemorating five decades of Fuji music’s existence. Fuji music was popularised by Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde in the mid 1970s.
The Fuji: A Opera is executively produced by Tosin Ashafa and Papa Omotayo and has been actively promoting the Fuji music scene in Nigeria, with a special edition which was held August 2023 at the Africa Centre in London, UK.
