Renowned Nollywood actress and producer, Funke Akindele, has urged young creatives to remain focused and determined in the face of challenges, emphasizing the importance of creating value and intellectual property.
Speaking at a Creative Blueprint event held at the Civic Centre, the Tribe Called Judah, Box Office grossing flick, who is the organiser of the programme shared her personal experiences and lessons learned, aiming to empower upcoming creatives, particularly women, to succeed in the industry.
“I want to ensure that no upcoming creative goes through the challenges I faced while climbing the ladder of success,” Akindele said, highlighting her passion for promoting women empowerment in the creative sector.
The Jenifa Diary star actress cum producer emphasized that struggles and pain are inevitable in the creative industry, but it is how one responds that matters. “The pains can either make you or destroy you. It depends on your choice,” she noted.
She encouraged young creatives to focus on creating, developing, and building themselves, rather than chasing money. “Learn to multiply the impact of whatever positive thing you are doing as a creative and money will come,” Akindele advised.
Stressing the importance of creating intellectual property and bringing value to the table, the actress said, “People don’t pay for talent; they pay for value. Learn to own your craft and create value.”
Akindele urged young creatives to rise above their struggles and continue working hard to achieve their goals. “Your struggles should not define you. It’s how you rise from your struggles that should define you,” she stated.
Her inspiring words and personal experiences serve as a testament to the power of women empowerment in the creative industry, encouraging young women to pursue their passions and strive for success.
