Jim Iyke’s sin in Port Harcourt, Lagos

The sight of glamorously dressed enthusiasts and fans of Nollywood movies filled the air at Box Office Cinemas, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State and Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos recently, as they stormed the facilities to watch Jim Iyke’s latest film, Sin.

The movie, which centres on illicit drug abuse, drug peddling, money laundry and corruption in security formations and held its audience in suspense, as they begged for more.

Speaking during the screening, Iyke, who is the Executive Producer of the movie, said the need to draw attention of the society to the growing drug challenge in the country necessitated the theme of the movie.He explained that the movie focuses on lifestyles that are driven by greed and that he’s all out to deal with this before it becomes an epidemic in the society.

“I am an actor, I create and in the middle of creations I hope to provoke some conversations, shift paradigms and have people sit down, think about certain norms in life that has become obscure in a sense.

While noting that the movie is a multi-million dollar project, which centres on thriller and action, explained that Sin, a trilogy, had over 2,500 persons involved in the production and 70 per cent of this number was sourced from Africa.

Also speaking, an Associate Professor of Film Aesthetics and Performance, University of Port Harcourt, Dr. Ovunda Ihunwo, applauded the attention to details and the way the stories in the movie were woven to add value to the society.

“Today, we have cult wars, drug related wars here and there; the movie shows that at the end of the day all those who perpetuate such vices are losers at the end of the day. I have marked my calendar in anticipation of the movie, Sin.”

The movie has its first part, First Kill, released on Prime Videos July 24, the second part will be released August 22, 2025 and the third part in 2027.
