The death toll in the nation’s movie industry has increased as the death of Tony Anyasodor makes it the fifth since January this year.

According to reports, the late Anyasodor passed away in the early hours of Thursday, March 7, following a battle with a yet to be disclosed terminal ailment.

An unconfirmed report by NaijaGists, an online news platform said that he battled diabetes before his death. Also, reports has that he was admitted in a hospital in Imo state before he died.

His death is coming after that of another actor, Rotimi Alfred Popoola, whose death was announced by the Ogun state chapter of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

The late Anyasodor was popular for his roles in several Nollywood movies that include Heavy Storm 1 & 2, Beyond the Verdict 1 & 2, and Fire Dancer 1 & 2.

Earlier, on February 4, Funmilayo Ogunsola well known by the stage name Ijewuru was reported dead. This was shortly after the death of another actor, Adewale Olarenwaju aka Ishow Larry, who passed away after a brief illness on January 21.

The death of Gbenga Akintunde well known in the industry as Burger was the first to be announced as he had passed on January 4.
