In what seems like a long-time relationship aimed at revolutionising auto repairs in Nigeria has seen Nollywood actress, Tayo Sobola has ink a partnership deal with automobile repair firm, AutoFixR.
Speaking on the partnership, Sobola said: “The only reason I partner with a brand is that I am putting my head in it. I hardly go for ambassadorial and influencing jobs because I can’t come out for a brand just because of the money; everything is not about money. I like the fact that I can sit at my convenience and order for a mechanic to fix my car, and I like that it’s a 24-hour service.
“I have known ATL for years, and AutofixR has a proper office, so, if any mechanic fails to deliver on the job, there is an office to report to. I am in this because I can take bullets for the brand. I run a business as well, and people want a place they can walk in any time to complain.”
Commenting on the choice of the sassy actress as partner during official announcement and unveiling at the company’s office in Surulere, Lagos, the CEO of AutoFixR, Adeola Tokan Lawal (ATL), said Sobola was selected because she is a brand that can stand behind AutofixR and stand for Nigerians; adding that she is a personality that can shoulder the AutofixR brand and connect the people.
Launched in December 2024, Lawal said the company, which currently has 240 workshops in Lagos, serves as a melting pot between motorists and mechanics was established to connect vehicle owners to mechanics who specialise in their car model.
His words: “In Nigeria of today, you have a Honda mechanic working on a Mercedes Benz because he is the only one around, not knowing that three minutes away, there is a Mercedes Benz workshop that can repair your car the way you want it.
“I have been in the car industry for over 15 years, and I noticed that cars are not handled by the right technicians, and that’s the reason they don’t last so, we are here to provide the best matchmaking for car owners and mechanic, and we are going to be in charge of the whole process from start to finish.”
“We have 240 workshops in Lagos, and we will be going to Abuja for the next phase as we are planning to expand in Lagos. There are three million cars on Lagos roads every day, and only 15 per cent of them are new.
He added: “If a mechanic fails to fix a car well, such a person will not be paid, and if a car develops the same fault after repair, we will fix it for free.
Speaking on how to connect with mechanics, he said: “After requesting on the AutofixR app, we will assign a mechanic to a user.
When asked about investing in young people for training, he said: “I have British, American, German mechanics, and we are making plans to invite them to teach us how to repair electric cars
