The premiere of Fedmas Studio’s film, Níní, at Silverbird Cinemas in Jabi, Abuja, brought together an impressive lineup of Nollywood veterans, including Tina Mba, Jide Kosoko, Keppy Ekpeyong, Yemi Blaq, Chimezie Imo, Chinyere Wilfred, Tony Goodman and Francis Duru, alongside emerging talent from the Abuja scene.
Níní presents a compelling emotional thriller centred on Niniola, whose aspirations for a fulfilling marriage and family life are disrupted by an unexpected turn of events rooted in her mother’s sanctimonious sentiments.
Shot in beautiful locations in Abuja and Nasarawa State, the 117 minutes film run, effectively combines family drama with action. Its engaging narrative, which explores themes of trauma, moral complexity, and love, is designed to resonate with viewers long after they leave the theatre.
The film, released in 70 cinemas across Nigeria on October 3 was written, executive produced, and directed by Dr Samuel Idiagbonya, who shared that the plot intricately weaves together themes of sanctimoniousness, pain, regret and love. Idiagbonya’s unique perspective, shaped by years of training in screenwriting and his background as a medical doctor, lends depth to the storytelling.
Sharing his thoughts on casting choices in Nollywood, Idiagbonya emphasised the importance of blending veteran actors with new talents to foster growth in the industry while ensuring commercial viability.
“Níní addresses significant gaps in parenting, aiming to bridge these gaps. The success of this project is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our crew, who worked tirelessly despite challenges,” he remarked.
The immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, in his goodwill message lauded Idiagbonya for his commitment to crafting distinct narratives, noting that the film’s cinematic quality holds the audience’s attention from beginning to end.
Former Minister of State for Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu, also in his goodwill message commended the casts and their portrayal of role, advocating for the Nigerian audience to experience the film, which highlights timeless themes surrounding family dynamics.
