With you are mine, Ogoor dreams big

ogoorOn a good day, breaking into the mainstream of the country’s showbiz industry is not an easy task. Forget your talent and hardwork; here, you must be persistent and of course know the right strings to pull.

However, for fast rising singer Ogochukwu Oye, otherwise known as Ogoor, finding a voice in the already crowded music industry was a tough process that eventually shaped her career.

“It wasn’t an easy journey for me. You know after school, I had attempted the other way to kick-start my career through reality show, but I was rejected a lot of times. I don’t think it was because I lacked anything; I want to believe it was simply because I just didn’t have what exactly they were looking for,” she recalled.

After years of rejections and disappointments, the Anambra State native took a bold step to go it all alone.“I attempted almost all the reality shows but I just wasn’t lucky to make it through. Though some people will kick off their career through that means, many of us will hit the limelight through working meticulously and righteously to put our music out there. That was exactly what I did,” she said.

Today, Ogoor has completed work on her single, You Are Mine, which sets the tone for her forthcoming debut album. Though not limited to any particular genre of music, Ogoor’s soulful ballads will definitely appeal to most music lovers.

“My kind of music can’t be boxed in one genre because for me, I’m a musician and music flows in my soul. I write and also see others write, but I can tell you when I sing, it’s for a purpose; probably to share a particular experience or someone’s experience.”

She continued: “I sing about anything and everything worthy of creation. I get inspiration from people around me, my family, friends as well as personal experiences.”

Though she seems to have found a winning formula for her music, Ogoor is not limited when it comes to sound. “I can do any genre, I can sing but my rhythm for now has seen me launch my career with a low tempo yet appealing and alluring to the ears. Music means so much to me and my passion for music has always been from my childhood days,” she said.
