Host Ebuka took on the first BBNaija Shine Ya Eye live eviction show last Sunday night, but there were no goodbyes – just surprises!

After the ladies and gentlemen of the house settled in, Biggie threw in the second twist of the season. He told the housemates that two from among them were Wild Cards and they had a week to figure them out. If they successfully did this, the two Wild Card housemates would be evicted immediately. Failure to do so meant they get to remain in the competition and battle it out for the grand prize.

The housemates investigated, questioned, and tried hard to figure out who they were all week long. The viewers were not left out in the guessing game until Thursday when Biggie revealed that Maria and Pere were the Wild Cards.

During their Diary Room sessions Sunday afternoon, majority of the housemates put forward Liquorose and Jaypaul as their prime suspects, to the amusement of viewers. However, the cat was let out of the bag when Ebuka asked the Wild Cards – Maria and Pere – to reveal themselves. This left the housemates surprised but impressed at how well they concealed their identities.

The game has now shifted gears as both Maria and Pere are officially in the game to win. Ebuka revealed that both of them would have exclusive nomination powers on Monday night, when the housemates exercise their nomination rights for the first time this season.

Viewers on Monday started the first round of voting for the season. Voting was on the Africa Magic website and via the MyDStv and MyGOtv apps. Viewers will get 100 votes on the website and DStv and GOtv viewers with an active subscription will get even more with Awoof Voting. DStv Premium customers will get 2,500 votes; Compact Plus will have 1,500 votes; Compact customers will get 750 votes while Confam and Yanga customers will get 500 and 200 votes respectively. For GOtv customers on Max, they get 350 votes and GOtv Jolli customers get 200 votes.

Meanwhile, Showmax’s exclusive BBNaija show, The Buzz, which discusses never-before-seen footage on Big Brother Naija’ Shine Ya Eye’ premiered August 3, 2021 at 7 pm, and it was explosive. Toke Makinwa, the show’s host, showed us a glimpse of what is to come this season as she was joined by three guest buzzers.

First, she had multi-talented actress and comedian Chigul join her to discuss the new housemates and her first impressions. They rated the boys and girls in the house according to their “hotness”. They both agreed that all the housemates are gorgeous and have such diverse beauties. But Chigul was clearly smitten by Boma and says she thinks he’s the hottest man in the house.

Pere

Toke Makinwa, on the other hand, says Pere is her type because he’s got the face and the body to match. They declared Liquorose, Angel and Beatrice as the top three alpha females in the house.

Soon after, award-winning musician Ice Prince joined the ladies on set to talk about the ships in the house. The rapper shared that the relationships that the show creates are his favourite parts. “That’s always my favourite part of the show – the relationships. This year, I’m already seeing one ship sailing, which is Sammie and Angel. I think that’s going to be a good one. It kind of reminds me of Teddy A and Bam Bam. I hope it turns out to be that beautiful.” He added that he doesn’t think the two are moving too fast because love at first sight exists.”

The last and final guest for this episode of The Buzz, Youtuber Glory Elijah, joined the trio as they discussed some of the craziest episodes from the first week of the show. They discussed Angel and Maria’s teasing of Boma during their rehearsals and his reaction. Ice Prince said that Boma is a powerful man because most men would not have remained unaffected by their antics. As far as Toke is concerned, the timing was off, and he’ll probably have had a different reaction if the time and setting were right.

They also discussed the wildcard situation, and Toke said she loved how Maria played her game and didn’t even suspect her until Biggie revealed who she was. Glory thought that Maria won hearts with how she handled the situation, especially when the housemates questioned Beatrice. She didn’t think that highly of Pere and feels that he has a target on his back since he was so unapologetic about the whole thing.

They ended the first-ever episode of The Buzz with clips from some of the housemate’s secret diary sessions. Big Brother provides these periods to allow the housemates to rant about any and everything, and some of the juiciest details are revealed here. People discuss who they like, who they want to be with, those they can’t stand and more during these sessions.
