The popular Old Parade Ground came under heavy sound of music last weekend, as top rated music stars, including Davido, M.I, Falz, Ice Price and dare Art Alade stormed the venue for the Abuja leg of the ongoing Star Music Trek. Though a heavy rain had descended, as the concert was about to get underway, resilient revelers were out for a night of unstoppable fun, as the grooved till the early hours of the following day.

Headline act Davido shared stage with MI, Ice Prince, Falz and Darey, who made his debut performance at Star Music The Trek concert. The night started out with top mixes from DJ Neptune and DJ Big N. Both disc jockeys held it down as they prepped the Abuja crowd for what was unanimously agreed to be a night to remember. And with gigantic woofers positioned at strategic points, it didn’t take long before the venue was packed full with fun lovers.

Host, Gbenga Adeyinka thrilled the concert audience ahead of the stunning performances by the artistes, spicing his commentaries with jaw breaking jokes. But is was Falz, who set the tone for the evening with his claim as originator of the famed ‘Falz faux accent’ that sent the crowd reeling with laughter.

An Abuja based fan said, “I can never get enough of Falz The Bhad Guy, he’s just too funny. His gestures and confidence with rapping in that now famous accent is unique.”

“I couldn’t have missed the moment with my favourite music stars and specially thank Star Music The Trek for making my city rock this night. Honestly, the rain was heavy and I got wet but thrilled that my friends and I made it here to Star Music The Trek Abuja” commented a female fan at the concert.

M.I had one of the best sets of the night as he performed with a fan, Archie, who he spotted from the crowd. They performed a few throwback classic hits together. Another lucky fan, Young Incredible, got on stage with M.I as he dazzled and won a year’s studio recording deal with Chocolate City proving M.I has good synergy with fans on stage. M.I also enthralled audience with his Action Film, Anoti and Bullion Van hits, before wrapping with Number One, a song that featured Flavour.

Ice Prince registered his presence at the venue with songs such as Molowo and Oleku, which took the fans to an excited height. “I was completely taken by the flow and consistency of the rappers. MI is a natural. Ice Prince nailed it too. Kai, the guy has lyrics sha! I have just found another level of respect for Nigerian artistes. Dem dey try no be small. Kudos to Star for bringing all of them tonight,” another ecstatic fan complimented, as he raised a cup of Star lager in an apparent toast to his comment.

R&B crooner, Darey Art Alade also brought his magic touch of class to the concert. He closed his electrified performance with hit song, Pray for me. This sent the crowd into a frenzy of exciting prayers with comedian Gbenga leading on key prayer points. Once again, Darey proved that he is a top class Nigerian star of international quality.

Star Music The Trek Abuja was broadcast live on HIPTV, giving millions of Nigerians an opportunity to experience the concert from the comfort of their homes but it’s never the same as being at the venue. Cheering fans were also introduced to the 2016 Star Music The Trek theme song, My City Rocks, produced by Del B with hooks from various artistes that included 2Baba, Mr. Raw, DJ Big N, DJ Neptune and others.

In typical Davido style, the self-titled ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (OBO) switched beats for the night. The Sony Music-signed-pop star stepped on stage with his hype man, Special Ed, and the teeming Abuja concert crowd couldn’t get enough from him.

The young, energetic singer performed numerous hit songs opening with Dami Duro and went on to perform hit tracks such as Skelewu, Aiye, Bahd Baddo, Baddest, Gobe and The Money, which ended the unforgettable night.

“Ha, I couldn’t believe I will ever see Davido and these other super stars in real life. I’ll take selfies with them because I’ll like to keep this memory forever.” Attested this fan.

“I wish the night will never end. Rain or not, I’ve had too much fun, dancing and laughing to all the funny stuff on stage. It was an amazing concert. Abuja city Rocks mehn! Thank you Star Music The Trek. Please don’t stop.” Another elated fan commended.

Without any doubt, music fans in the city of Abuja have experienced a premium concert courtesy of Star lager, Nigeria’s foremost lager beer. Star Music The Trek will be moving to Calabar on October 22, 2016 and it promises to be another night of music, fun and shining star moments.
