Rotimi Awofisibe stands out as a dynamic business executive and financial strategist whose career reflects strong discipline in finance, leadership, and institutional transformation. With more than fourteen years of experience across banking, fintech, and public finance, he has developed a reputation for turning complex financial challenges into clear strategies that deliver measurable results. His work combines technical financial expertise with a strong ability to lead people, structure institutions, and deliver growth.
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Rotimi brings deep knowledge in financial management, accounting, auditing, taxation, business analysis, performance management, and public private partnerships. His professional journey shows consistent success in managing financial operations, structuring large transactions, and leading teams to achieve strategic goals. He has led and supervised multiple teams across different organizations, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently while maintaining strict standards in financial oversight and reporting.
Rotimi currently serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dash Microfinance Bank, where he is leading an ambitious effort to build a technology driven financial institution focused on inclusion and access to credit. Dash Microfinance Bank was established to provide credit led, digital banking services to individuals and small businesses that remain underserved by traditional financial institutions. The bank operates under the regulation of the Central Bank of Nigeria and seeks to simplify finance while helping customers achieve financial independence.
Under Rotimi’s leadership, Dash Microfinance Bank has moved quickly to establish a strong presence in Nigeria’s growing digital banking space. Within just eight months, the bank disbursed over ₦31.2 billion in loans while mobilizing ₦6.8 billion in deposits. These early results reflect a strategy built on technology first delivery, efficient credit systems, and customer focused service. The institution uses digital platforms to make financial services more accessible, secure, and convenient, especially for micro and small businesses that often struggle to obtain funding.
The bank’s strategy focuses on expanding financial inclusion through a credit led model that prioritizes micro enterprises, small businesses, and everyday consumers. Through this approach, Dash Microfinance Bank aims to close funding gaps that limit the growth of many businesses across the country. Alongside lending, the bank is building a broader financial ecosystem that includes financial literacy tools, advisory support for small businesses, and digital services that help customers manage their finances more effectively.
Dash Microfinance Bank also places strong emphasis on integrity, innovation, customer focus, growth, inclusivity, and collaboration. These values guide the bank’s operations and shape how it engages with customers, partners, and stakeholders. By combining modern technology with responsible banking practices, the institution aims to build trust while expanding opportunities for individuals and businesses.
Before joining Dash Microfinance Bank, Rotimi served as Managing Director of VFD Microfinance Bank where he led a major turnaround that repositioned the institution for growth. Within his first year, the bank moved from a ₦300 million loss to a ₦575 million profit. During the same period, he achieved 56 percent balance sheet growth, reduced non-performing loans from 18 percent to 7.6 percent, and successfully raised ₦5 billion in equity to strengthen the bank’s capitalization. His leadership also improved internal efficiency and reduced staff attrition through stronger people management and operational reforms.
Rotimi’s experience also extends to the fintech sector. At Splitar Limited, he played a key role in expanding operations across several international markets including Ghana, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His work focused on innovative asset backed financing solutions and building partnerships that supported cross border growth.
Earlier in his career, Rotimi served in the Lagos State Government as Technical Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner for Finance. In this role, he contributed to important fiscal reforms that strengthened public financial management in the state. He helped structure a ₦150 billion syndicated loan for Lagos State and played a role in the early redemption of more than ₦100 billion in state bonds. These efforts produced savings of about ₦25 billion through renegotiated rates while maintaining the state’s debt sustainability ratio within global benchmarks set by the World Bank and the Debt Management Office.
He also supported reforms that enabled Lagos State to earn $15.6 million from the World Bank’s State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability programme. In addition, he coordinated training for more than 3,300 state accountants on international public sector accounting standards, strengthening financial reporting across the public sector.
Through his work in banking, fintech, and government, Rotimi Awofisibe has built a career defined by financial discipline, strategic leadership, and institutional growth. His leadership at Dash Microfinance Bank continues to focus on expanding digital banking access, strengthening credit delivery, and creating financial opportunities for individuals and businesses across Nigeria.
