The new people-led Independence platform turns October 1 into more than a moment of commemoration, creating a space for Nigerians to express their hopes for the country through culture, storytelling and participation.

LAGOS, NIGERIA — September 2026 — As Nigeria approaches its 66th Independence anniversary, WOW Experience has launched TheNaijaDreams, a new people-led cultural platform built around one powerful invitation:
What are your Nigerian Dreams — and what is your part in making them real?

TheNaijaDreams begins with the belief that there is no single Nigerian Dream.

Across generations, communities and walks of life, Nigerians carry millions of different dreams — for opportunity, safety, education, thriving businesses, stronger communities, creativity, dignity, family and a country in which more people can build meaningful lives.

The platform creates a space for Nigerians to name those dreams and then take the conversation one step further:
MY DREAMS. MY PART.

Rather than defining the Nigerian Dream for Nigerians, TheNaijaDreams invites people to define their dreams for themselves — and to consider the contribution each person can make within their own sphere of influence.

FROM COMMEMORATION TO PARTICIPATION

For many Nigerians, Independence Day has traditionally been experienced through ceremonies, speeches, flags and national reflection.

TheNaijaDreams seeks to add another dimension to that tradition: participation.
Through physical experiences, digital storytelling, community activities,

creators and cultural expression, Nigerians will be encouraged to share their Dreams, show their Part and, where possible, bring that Part to life.

Participation can be as simple as sharing a statement, photograph, drawing, video or voice note. It can also become something tangible — mentoring someone, creating an opportunity, telling an important story, contributing to a community or using one’s craft to express a vision for Nigeria.

The premise is simple: building a country involves governments and institutions, but it also involves communities, businesses, families, creators and citizens.

TheNaijaDreams does not seek to place the responsibility for changing a country on individuals. Instead, it creates space for Nigerians to consider what they can contribute within their own spheres — recognising that national possibility is also shaped by millions of individual hopes, choices, actions and contributions.

CULTURE IS HOW WE TELL THE STORY

Culture sits at the heart of TheNaijaDreams.

Through music, fashion, food, art, storytelling, film, comedy, sport and the creativity of Nigerians themselves, the platform will explore what our dreams for Nigeria look like, sound like, taste like, feel like and could become.

Creators participating in TheNaijaDreams will not simply advertise the platform.

They will be invited to interpret it through their own experiences and craft by answering four questions:
MY DREAMS — What do I want for Nigeria?

MY PART — What role can I play?

MY CRAFT — How does what I do express that Part?

MY INVITATION — What are your Dreams? What’s your Part?

The ambition is to create a conversation that Nigerians can interpret through their own languages, communities, experiences and cultural worlds.

THE FIRST LIVE CHAPTER: RIVERS STATE
The first live expression of TheNaijaDreams will take place in Rivers State during Nigeria’s 2026 Independence season.

Across the season, the platform will come alive through a programme of cultural and community experiences, including a carnival, craft workshop, family picnic, banquet and October 1 Independence celebration.

Together, these experiences will represent the first live chapter of a much larger Nigerian conversation.

The chapter will provide an opportunity for TheNaijaDreams to listen to Nigerians, capture their stories and understand how people respond to the invitation to articulate both their Dreams and their Part.

The experiences and stories emerging from Rivers State will also contribute to a wider documentary record exploring the Nigerian Dream through the people who are living, creating, building and contributing to it.

AN INVITATION TO NIGERIANS

TheNaijaDreams ultimately begins with Nigerians themselves.

Their dreams may be for safer communities, better education, greater opportunity, stronger families, thriving creativity, successful businesses or simply a country where more people can build lives with dignity.

Whatever those dreams may be, the platform asks Nigerians to name them.

And then to consider their Part.

Because the Nigerian Dream does not have to be one dream.

It can be millions.
