Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan midfielder, Jide Apena says the present form of the club as well as their position on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) standings gives him concerns.

The midfielder told supersport.com that it would be out of place if he feels indifferent about it, as he believes that the Ibadan club should not be battling at the base of the league table.

He however assured 3SC faithful that the team “are working hard everyday in training” to ensure that they improve their results and put points on the board.

“I am very worried,” Apena said about 3SC’s poor recent form and third-from-bottom position on the NPFL table. “That is why we are working hard every day in training to get out of that relegation zone as quick as possible. That position does not befit us as a club.”

The left-sided midfielder then took time to talk about their next league fixture against Abia Warriors billed for the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan tomorrow. He is keen on helping 3SC get back to winning ways after six matches without a victory since their last triumph in the league on February 5 against Rivers United.

“We are bouncing back with a win (against Abia Warriors). We so much need the three points now,” Apena said. The midfielder joined 3SC at the start of this season after previously featuring for Lagos-based side, First Bank FC.

He has scored one goal and provided one assist in the NPFL this season.
