About 460 professional and amateur golfers are in Jos, Plateau State, to compete in the ongoing Governor Simon Lalong’s golf tournament.

Speaking at the Lamingo Golf Club, Jos, yesterday, Captain of the Club, Rev. Father Blaise Agwom, said Lalong has been sponsoring and organising the tournament since he assumed office in 2015, adding: “This is one of the tournaments that draw golfers from all round the country and even outside the nation.

“The main aim of this tournament is to bring golfers together to connect with other and to also compete for prizes, especially for the professionals.
“We started the competition on Monday and it will end on Sunday December 11, 2022. So, as we speak, the professionals and the category one are in the field because they started since on Monday.

“The Governor has been so magnanimous and provided N15 million for the professionals… there is also a car attached to it for the overall winner.

“And for the amateurs, they also have a car, apart from the prizes. So, the car will be for hole in one. The clubs are many as we have over 50 clubs from around the country.”

He listed the prizes on offer to include colour television sets, generators, deep freezers, freezers, home theatre and other prizes.
