Adara: ‘My dream is to play for Chelsea’

One of the teenagers featuring in the ongoing Delta Football Association Federation Cup, Godstime Adara, says his dream is to play for the current world champions and English Premiership giants, Chelsea.

Adara, a 16-year-old defender who plies his trade with Exxelent Football Academy in Delta State, is one of the few teenagers thrilling fans with an impressive performance in the ongoing Delta Football Association Federation Cup.

Many fans tag the young Adara the new ‘Taribo West’ because of his no-nonsense defensive play.

Although his side narrowly lost to Morak FC of Uvwie in a penalty shootout to end the aspirations of the Ughelli-based outfit, Adara said he gained a lot from the competition.

“I believe in my capacity as a young defender, and I want to be in Chelsea’s defence. I have the speed and grit needed to face strikers in the English Premiership,” he said.

Adara also called on the national team coaches, particularly the U-17 team, the Golden Eagles, to give him a chance to help Nigeria return to the age-grade competition, saying that with a strong defence to thwart the opposition, the team can rule the world once again.

It would be recalled that Excellent Football Academy has produced national team players, including wing sensation, Anayo Iwuala, who played for Delta Force Football Club of Asaba, and Enyimba FC of Aba, before taking his trade to Esperance of Tunisia, CR Belouizdad of Algeria, and now on loan and Al Arabia of Kuwait.
