Ahead of Thursday’s crucial AFCON 2023 Group A clash with Côte d’Ivoire, Super Eagles right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel revealed that he had food poisoning.

However, the Fenerbahce star allayed any fears, stating he should be ok before Thursday’s game against the hosts.

“I got food poisoning, today I’m a bit weak, but I should be ok,” he assured.

This is one news the coaching crew would hope is just a temporary setback.

Prior to the commencement, the Eagles lost Wilfred Ndidi, Umar Sadiq, Taiwo Awoniyi and Victor Boniface to injury.

Leicester forward Kelechi Iheanacho joined the Eagles camp on Sunday after recovering from injury.

Midfielder, Alhassan Yusuf, is struggling to be fit for the game against the Ivorians, after he was stretchered off in the game against Equatorial Guinea.

After the disappointing draw against Equatorial Guinea, the Eagles have it all to do when they face Côte d’Ivoire.

The hosts got their campaign off to a perfect start thanks to a 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau.
