Atletico have bottled it; there’s no stopping Barcelona

Last season was a pretty shambolic one for Barcelona and going without a trophy was not all. The pandemonium that followed the 8-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League and the player exits that followed marked the lowest moment for the Spanish giants.

A new manager was brought in and the club literally had to bet their star player Lionel Messi to stay after declaring his intention to seek pastures new. With the upheavals at the club a good start was never predicted, and it came to pass. The 2020/21 season was termed transitional as the club lay plans for the future. The season has turned out to be better than the last and could yet end with the team winning a double.

Barcelona have already won the Copa Del Rey, which already makes the transition season more successful than their last campaign. As if that’s not enough, they are favorites to win the league title after.

While Atletico Madrid had a fine start, and looked like the favorites in a season Barcelona were expected to struggle, it is Barca who go to the final stages with the favorites’ tag.

In their form, the best bookmakers listed on Wincomparator are sure to back Barcelona for wins in the remaining league matches, including the big one against Atletico Madrid on Match Week 35. These bookmakers also have ready offers and bonuses for new users; 1xBet, for example gives up to $130 in bonuses for new registrations and 22Bet has up to €122 bonus.

The fact that Atletico Madrid have been struggling in their away matches sits well with Barcelona’s ambitions as it is Barcelona who will be at home on Match Day 35 when they take on Atletico, in a game that could potentially decide where the title eventually ends.

Between October and November 2020, Barcelona went on a bad run, of just one win in six matches in La Liga. They lost three in the process, and one of them was away to Atletico Madrid, a 1-0 defeat, with Atleti in fine form at the time. After losing home and away to the other title contenders, Real Madrid, Barcelona will be keen not to suffer another loss against a title contender.

While they have come out as top favorite for the title, Barcelona should also look over their shoulder, at Real Madrid, who have not been entirely convincing but have delivered the results they needed. This includes wins over both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as well as Sevilla who have an outer chance at winning the title.

Looking at how the finals rounds of the league are structured, Barcelona will have an upper hand on their opponents even as we predict this might go down to the wire. A further boost to their chances is that unlike Real Madrid, Barcelona are only focused on La Liga, having been earlier eliminated from the Champions League.

Their key players are also hitting form at the right time. Antoine Griezmann has stepped up well in the recent matches and his combination with Lionel Messi upfront is really lethal, and Barca only have to deal with a leaking defence going to the final stages of the season.
