Former Super Eagles’ Coach, Bonfrere Jo, has formally applied to return to the national team job currently held by German, Gernot Rohr.

Former Super Eagles’ Coach, Bonfrere Jo, has formally applied to return to the national team job currently held by German, Gernot Rohr.

According to a local website, soccernet.ng, the Dutch, who led Nigeria to Africa’s first Olympic football gold at the Atlanta USA ’96 Games, has written the Nigeria Football Federation to indicate his willingness to take over the senior national team job from which he was sacked 20 years ago.

Jo has not made secret of his ambition to return to the national team, and has enlisted some prominent Nigerians to help him achieve his aim.

With the pressure now mounting on the NFF to sack Rohr following the team’s ‘poor’ performance in the race to Qatar 2022 World Cup, Jo, recently wrote a letter to Nigeria, stating that he has the magic wand to turn things around.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not said anything about Jo’s ambition, but feelers indicate that the federation is not in a hurry to sack Rohr.

Soccer.net reports that Rohr has already submitted his provisional 40-man team list to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of next year’s African Cup of Nations.

“We had to do a list of 40 players before November 15. I had also my plans,” Rohr told Soccernet.
