Former Rivers United goalkeeper, Victor Sochima is expected to make his debut for Shooting Stars tomorrow when the Oluyole Warriors take on Tunisia’s Club CS Sfaxien in a CAF Confederation Cup first round game at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

Sochima, who joined the Ibadan-based 3SC this season, did not feature in the Salisu Yusuf-tutored side’s Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game against Inter Lagos last weekend. That match ended 2-1 in favour of 3SC.

Yusuf hinted after the game against Inter Lagos that his team was gaining valuable match fitness, adding that they will give the match against the Tunisians all they have. “We are going to play on the continent next in Abeokuta, and our focus is there at the moment. We will see how we can get the team to play better than this.

“This game will give them more match fitness, and that will help us in our next game,” he said.
On Sochima, he said that the goalkeeper brings valuable experience to the squad.

“Sochima trained with us and he brings good experience that can help the team,” the coach added.

CS Sfaxien are already in Nigeria for the game, which is scheduled to kick off at 4.00 p.m. The winner of the tie over two legs will advance to the second round, which offers the opportunity to qualify for the group phase of the competition.
