Cristiano Ronaldo given artwork of overhead kick against Juventus
Sometimes goals are so good that they can be compared to works of art.
And there are few strikes that fit that description more than Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kick at the Allianz Stadium in last season’s Champions League quarter-final.
The Portuguese forward flew through the air before firing past Gianluigi Buffon when Real Madrid met Juventus.
Now a Colombian artist has presented Ronaldo with a piece of artwork representing that moment.
Mauricio Benitez, otherwise known as Mr Bling, designed the art using Swarovski glass crystals, which is his trademark method of putting pieces together.
And he was given the opportunity to hand it over to the veteran forward himself on a trip to Turin.
He was clearly delighted with Ronaldo meeting him and taking the artwork. He wrote: ‘Thank you @Cristiano for believing in my talent. We go forward from the hand of God.’
The goal came against his future club, Juventus, who he joined from Real in the summer.
Ronaldo has been in excellent form since moving to Turin and scored their 1,000th Serie A goal at the weekend against Torino.
He is likely to be rested for one of their upcoming fixtures to keep him fresh for the Champions League in the second half of the season.
