Nigeria’s Dazzle FC enjoyed a successful outing at the 2026 Dana Cup in Denmark, with the academy’s U12 team winning the title and the U14 side finishing runners-up at one of the world’s largest youth football tournaments.

The competition, held in Hjørring from July 20 to 25, featured 946 teams from 56 countries, with approximately 2,600 matches played during the week-long event.

Dazzle FC’s U12 team completed an unbeaten campaign in the Boys U12 (7v7) category, winning all nine of their matches. They scored 56 goals and conceded six, producing a series of commanding performances throughout the tournament.

The Lagos-based academy recorded victories over SV Schwansen (17-0), Hasle-Løren IL (11-0), Bønes IL (12-1), FC Duevej 2 (9-1) and NSA (6-0) before progressing through the knockout rounds.

In the semi-final, Dazzle FC defeated Brazilian side RS Sports 2-1 to reach the final, where they edged Mexico’s IFAC 1-0 after extra time.

Akinremi Abdullahi scored the winning goal to secure the academy’s first Dana Cup title.

The club’s U14 team also progressed to the final after advancing through the group stage and Play-Off A knockout rounds.

Their title challenge ended in a penalty shootout after a drawn final against Palestinian side Rawahel, who won 5-3 on penalties to claim the trophy.

Despite the defeat, Dazzle FC goalkeeper Ojerinde Toheeb was named Best Player in the U14 category after a series of impressive displays, including three clean sheets during the tournament.

The performances by both teams capped a successful tournament for the academy, with one championship title, a runners-up finish and an individual award highlighting the club’s progress in youth football.
