A grassroots football project established in Ughelli South, Delta State, is developing a youth football structure aimed at providing young players with opportunities to combine education with organised football development.
Tpack Football Club, also known as Tpack FC, was founded in 2025 by ThankGod Ochuko and operates from the football facility at Otokuto Secondary School.
The club began as a grassroots project at the school and is working towards developing a more structured academy system, with plans to create age-group teams and eventually participate at higher levels of Nigerian football.
Ochuko, who serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tpack FC, said the project was established to give talented young footballers in Ughelli South a more organised route towards competitive football.
“Our vision is to give young footballers in Ughelli South an organised pathway where they can develop their talent, receive proper education and discipline, and have the opportunity to progress into professional football,” Ochuko said.
“We want Tpack FC to become a platform where young people can turn their dreams into reality.”
The club’s development plan provides for teams across the U15, U17 and U20/Senior categories, with a projected playing group of between 35 and 50 footballers.
Its stated mission is to identify, train and promote young players while ensuring that education and personal development remain part of the programme.
Tpack FC has participated in local football activities, with its club records listing matches including a fixture against FC Tellectual.
The management says the next stage of its development will involve seeking opportunities to participate in competitions organised within the Delta State football structure.
Tpack FC also has longer-term ambitions to compete in the Nationwide League One, the third tier of Nigeria’s domestic football league system.
Those plans remain developmental targets rather than the club’s current competitive status.
Should it eventually enter and progress through the NLO structure, the club’s management hopes to pursue further advancement through Nigeria’s football pyramid, including ambitions to reach the Nigeria National League and, in the longer term, the Nigeria Premier Football League.
For a club established in 2025, however, the immediate focus remains building the structures required to develop young players and compete consistently at grassroots level.
Ochuko believes creating a clear development system is particularly important for players outside Nigeria’s major football centres.
The club’s approach is intended to give young footballers access to regular training, coaching, competition and, eventually, opportunities to be assessed by scouts and professional clubs.
Education is another component of Tpack FC’s development plans.
The club says it intends to eventually develop an academy complex incorporating accommodation and classroom facilities, allowing young players to pursue football development alongside their education.
The proposed facility remains part of the club’s longer-term plans.
Tpack FC also intends to organise scouting showcases twice a year as part of efforts to increase the visibility of players within its programme.
Its management has set a target of developing between three and five players annually who could progress into professional football.
Achieving that target will depend on the club’s ability to build relationships with established teams, scouts and other football-development organisations, as well as the progress of individual players.
Nigeria has a large network of grassroots clubs and academies seeking to identify young footballers and provide pathways towards the professional game.
For emerging clubs, however, player development requires more than discovering talented footballers. Coaching, competitive opportunities, education, welfare, medical support and responsible player representation are among the structures required to sustain a credible development programme.
Tpack FC says it intends to build its programme around talent, passion, action and commitment, while using the motto “Making Dreams Reality”.
Ochuko is supported in the club’s management structure by Sporting Director and Secretary Osia Felix, while Kingsley Akpososo serves as head coach.
The management says its immediate priority is establishing a sustainable grassroots structure in Ughelli South before pursuing its ambitions further up the Nigerian football pyramid.
For young players in the area, the project’s potential will ultimately be measured by whether it can provide consistent coaching, education and competitive opportunities, and eventually create credible pathways from grassroots football into the professional game.
