Former Green Eagles star, Victor Sessi ‘Arsenal’ died yesterday in his Igando, Lagos home. He was 75 years old.

According to family sources, Sessi was for a long time down with a strange ailment, which could be connected with a domestic accident he had in 2011.

Sessi was said to have slipped and fell while trying to fix a ceiling fan on July 24, 2011 and without any sign of hypertension or diabetic, he was diagnosed for right hemispheric CVA with left hemiparesis.

The former superstar was discharged on August 30, 2011 to continue his physiotherapy at home.

He was readmitted to hospital on April 6, 2013 for Sepsis, an ailment that took a toll on his family resources.

In the 1960s, Victor Sessi ‘Arsenal’ was the toast of football fans across the country. He was a member of the senior national team that halted Ghana’s dominance of Nigeria in football in 1969 at the Liberty Stadium in Ibadan.

Besides playing for the national team, Sessi played for ECN, now PHCN, under Coach Amusa Shittu and his teammates then were Lawal Inua Rigogo and Peter Fregene, among others.
