Former international, Victor Igali, has advised Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, to move to a club where he is going to have regular playing time and develop his game.

Arsenal Football Club of England and Premiership defending champion, Leicester City, are reported to have sent scouts to watch the talented Nigerian youngster in action for his club, Portuguese side, Feirense. The two clubs are said to be showing interest in him.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Igali said it does not matter, which club Etebo plays for, what the boy needs now is having enough playing time, which will be beneficial to the nation during World Cup qualifiers, as one of the key members of the Super Eagles.

“It is not about Arsenal or Leicester City, it just about the player going to a place where he can develop his football. He should go to a club where he will be given the opportunity to play regularly and develop himself.

“Playing regularly for whichever club he chooses will be the one that will benefit him more and will also be positive for our national team. But if he goes to where he will always sit on the bench like what is happening to Ahmed Musa now, it will not be good for him and the national team,” he said.

The former Schalka 04 striker, who extolled Etebo abundant talent, said: “Etebo is still a promising player, who has more to do in terms of learning on the trade. When one considers the enormous talent that the young man possesses, then one should hope that he makes a very promising move.

“He should be very careful in making this decision as this may be detrimental to the national team considering his importance to the team. Our qualification for the World Cup in Russia is crucial to us hence reason why he should make a move to where he will be play regularly,” he stated.
