Williams Gift wants to emulate Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

New Layout Secondary School of Enugu striker, Williams Gift, has expressed his desire to emulate and surpass the feat of Atletico Madrid and France international, Antoine Griezmann, who led club and country to the final of both the 2016 European Championship and the UEFA Champions League.

The 14-year-old striker, who has netted nine goals in two matches, said he is in awe at the way Greizmann plays and the manner he scores his goals as he comes from deep to do the damage. Like every aspiring footballer, he stressed his belief of one day plying his trade for top clubs in Europe.

The forward, who was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the regional play-offs in Enugu, and the highest goal scorer with nine goals, dedicated all his goals to God and his coach for ensuring tactical discipline within the team.

“As you can see, I have started on the journey of greatness by scoring nine goals in two matches, I am keeping my dream alive,” Gift said.

With the play-offs, out of the way, he said their main focus was to win the trophy at the final in Lagos. “I can assure you that we will do well in Lagos and bring the cup back to Enugu for our Governor and our principal,” he boasted.

The maiden edition of the competition in 2013 was won by Keke Senior High School, Ijaiye, Lagos, which was rewarded with N1million cash prize and an all-expense paid trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The second edition was won by Government Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State, which went home with the star prize of N2 million educational award and N50, 000 each to players of the winning team.
