Former International, Henry Nwosu, has advised Super Eagles’ Captain, John Mikel Obi, to seek greener pasture away from Chelsea Football Club of England in order to have regular playing time.

Mikel is reportedly being sought after by Olympic Marseille FC of France. The Chelsea midfielder, who has been in top form, led the nation to two wins against the Chipolopolo of Zambia and the Foxes of Algeria in the World Cup qualifiers. The team currently sits atop Group B with six points.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, Nwosu said Mikel has been fantastic since the World Cup qualifiers began. According to him, it will be in his interest and that of the country for him to be playing regularly to be in top shape towards the nation’s qualification for the Mundial.

“Moving to another club will be in the best interest of John Mikel Obi at this point in time, as the nation too will benefit from it. Initially, I was against him wearing the number 10 jersey. But now, I can say he is fit to wear the jersey with his performance in the two World Cup matches.

“Mikel has been fantastic for us so far and all he needs to do is to go elsewhere so as to play regularly. Pay cut or no pay cut, all that matter now is for him to be fit for our matches. At least this will dismiss insinuations about him warming the bench in his club,” he said.

However, media reports indicate that the Eagles captain has received nod from Chelsea’s coach, Antonio Conte, to move. Mikel has not featured since Conte’s arrival despite his exploit for his nation in the Africa’s World Cup qualifiers.
