Nigeria’s Home Eagles, also known as the Super Eagles B team, will face off against Ghana’s Black Galaxies at 5 PM Nigerian time today in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers. The highly anticipated encounter will see Ani Henry Ozoemena take his place between the sticks, capping off a remarkable rise for the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

Ozoemena, who currently plies his trade with Nigerian Premier League giants Enyimba FC, has been in sensational form this season. Since joining Enyimba from Kwara United in September 2021, he has firmly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. His consistency and commanding presence have been pivotal to Enyimba’s success, and it’s no surprise that he has earned the nod to start for the Eagles.

Born on October 22, 2000, Ozoemena has quickly become one of Nigeria’s most promising goalkeepers. His ability to read the game, pull off acrobatic saves, and organise the defence has set him apart, making him a key player to watch in today’s clash.

The Home Eagles’ lineup will feature a strong defensive quartet of Junior Nduka, who will captain the team, alongside Sadiq Ismaila, Imo Udo, and Onyebuchi Ifeanyi. In midfield, Jide Fatokun, Saviour Isaac, and Zayyad Musa are set to provide creativity and balance. Upfront, the attacking trio of  Abubakar Adamu, Yusuf Anas and Remo Stars’ Sikiru Alimi will aim to breach the Black Galaxies’ defence.

All eyes will be on Ani Henry Ozoemena to deliver another stellar performance as the Home Eagles look to secure a positive result in the first leg of this crucial qualifier.
